Overview

TessTrack is an independent app for Tesla owners that uses vehicle data from your Tessie account to help you track driving costs, mileage, efficiency, charging activity, driving history, and savings compared with ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles.

This Privacy Policy explains what information TessTrack accesses, how it is used, where it is stored, and whether it is shared.

What data TessTrack accesses

To provide its features, TessTrack retrieves vehicle information through the Tessie API for the Tesla vehicles you choose to connect. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

• Vehicle identification information
• Odometer and mileage data
• Driving and trip history
• Vehicle location and trip-route information
• Charging sessions and charging cost data
• Energy consumption and efficiency data
• Battery and range information

This information is provided through your Tessie account, which you separately authorize and control.

Fuel-price data

TessTrack uses fuel-price data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) to estimate gasoline costs for ICE vehicle comparisons. You provide your own EIA API key, which TessTrack uses to retrieve this information directly from EIA.

EIA API access is free, but registration for an individual API key is required.

How your information is used

TessTrack uses vehicle and fuel-price data to provide features within the app, including:

• Tracking Tesla mileage and driving history
• Displaying trips and routes
• Calculating charging and driving costs
• Monitoring efficiency and related vehicle information
• Comparing Tesla driving costs with estimated fuel costs for selected ICE vehicles
• Calculating estimated savings over time

Your information is not used for advertising or marketing.

Where your data is stored

TessTrack stores the following information securely in the iOS Keychain on your device:

• Your Tessie API key
• Your U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) API key
• Your selected home state
• Your connected vehicle list, including each vehicle's VIN and display name

TessTrack does not transmit or store this information on any server operated by TessTrack.

Vehicle data retrieved from Tessie and fuel-price data retrieved from EIA are used by the app to provide its features. We do not operate a backend server for TessTrack.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share your vehicle data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
• We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
• We do not operate a server that collects or stores your API credentials or Tesla vehicle data.

Third-party services

TessTrack relies on the Tessie API to retrieve Tesla vehicle data using credentials you provide and control. An active Tessie account and subscription are required to use TessTrack.

TessTrack also uses data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) to provide regional fuel-price information used for ICE vehicle cost comparisons. A free EIA API key is required.

Your use of Tessie and EIA services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

TessTrack is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc., Tessie, or the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Children's privacy

TessTrack is not directed to children under the age of 13 and is not intended for use by children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
